Transport data

The public transport data used by this site is provided by the Public Transportation Open Data Center (公共交通オープンデータセンター). The network currently shown (lines, stations, timetables) is obtained through Mini Tokyo 3D (© Akihiko Kusanagi), which is based on this data; for some operators not listed in the ODPT catalogue, it comes from Mini Tokyo 3D only. Toei subway data: 東京都交通局 (Bureau of Transportation, Tokyo Metropolitan Government), CC BY 4.0.

It is based on data provided by public transport operators, but it is not guaranteed to be accurate or complete.

Tokyo timetables: data retrieved on (weekday service).

Some data is used under the “Challenge-limited licence” (チャレンジ限定ライセンス) as part of the 公共交通オープンデータチャレンジ2026 (ODPT Challenge 2026).

The source code and design of Ikeruka belong to their author: all rights reserved unless otherwise stated. The code repository is not public.

  • Calculated results (travel times, simplified network) are derived from transport data subject to ODPT licences: they are shown only on this site and may not be redistributed.
  • Geography and base map: © OpenStreetMap contributors, data under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. openstreetmap.org/copyright
  • Base map vector tiles: OpenFreeMap.
  • Geocoding and geographic data: 国土地理院 (Geospatial Information Authority of Japan), used in accordance with its terms of use.
  • 国土数値情報 (National Land Numerical Information, MLIT): data under the CC BY 4.0 licence, processed by Ikeruka.

Privacy and personal data

Ikeruka requires no account and uses no advertising cookies, analytics or trackers.

  • Your preferences (theme, language, whether you have seen the guided tour) stay in your browser: local storage (localStorage) and one technical cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers your chosen language. You can clear them at any time from your browser settings.
  • Address searches go through our servers and are then forwarded to the geocoding services of 国土地理院 (Japan) and Photon (Komoot, Germany), without any data that could identify you.
  • Starting points and destinations are sent to our server to calculate travel times; results are cached anonymously.
  • Geolocation is only used when you ask for it, to place the starting point. Your location is never stored.
  • Like any host, Vercel keeps technical logs (IP address, date, requested page) for security and to keep the service running.

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to and restrict the processing of your data. To exercise these rights, write to contact [at] ikeruka.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL.

Limitation of liability

Ikeruka is an indicative tool. Travel times are estimates based on scheduled timetables, with no real-time data: delays, engineering works, disruptions and crowding are not taken into account. Always check the operators’ official information before you travel. The publisher cannot be held liable for any damage resulting from use of the site.
